The build part 1, preparing and planking
The Keel support didn't turn out that good but it holds it enough to stay upright.
I don't really want the expense of a keel clamp or cradle but I may have to bite the bullet and fork out for one. Perhaps the OcCre or the Artesania compact workbench.
7 Feb: However I have the ribs and deck plates on and glued in place.
9 Feb:
Next to start to shape for the hull planking.
The stern shaping and fairing
Fairing down the ribs for the hull plates.
Next steps will be on the deck. Planking and weather boards. Before starting to lay the hull plates
14 Feb: Deck laid and sanded first rows of the hull attached.
18th Feb
Port Bow hull ready for sanding. One quarter laid.
25th Feb
That is the Bow section hull planking on. Ready to fill and smooth. After fitting the stern section.
4th March
All the hull planking on. Starting to sand it smooth and tidy the bow and stern.
10th March
Multiple sanding, filling an more sanding, and a coat of matt varnish. Note the improved cradle to hold the ship upright. The original keel only was OK for first steps but there is a need for a more stable platform before starting on the upper works.
Deck planks marked and almost ready for a coat of paint on the hull.
Planking complete so onto the next stage...
